Serene, with my heart in the story. That’s what my world looks like, and that’s what my paintings tell.

I was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1980, graduated from high school in Hesse and received my diploma in media production from the Dresden University of Cooperative Education in 2008.

Because of my past as a musician and present as an endurance athlete, I have a strong inclination towards musicians*, artists* and athletes* as motives. It doesn’t matter so much if I photograph studio portraits or on-location or if I document events. I feel part of these worlds and deliver images from the perspective of a participant.

Our society and our lives together are based on shared stories, things we remember together. Images give expression to these stories. People don’t think in terms of numbers, facts, and dates. We explain the world to ourselves with stories. And that’s why photography plays an important role for us as human beings. Pictures that are made with a feeling for their subject and with the knowledge that they can trigger something in the viewer still stand out from the flood of images today. Good pictures have become even more important in my eyes because they have to stand their ground to get their message across. And that’s why I take pictures.
